The Weatherford's enjoy their 1922 Georgian Revival style homes formal floor plan, and find that they have been able to decorate it in a livable way that reflects each room's timeless personality and their own fondness for the Victorian era.

Built by local contractor John Clarke for his wife Jessie and their two children, this home was only one of the six homes in the Lincoln Park area that Clarke either built and/or lived in between 1910 and 1930.  Clarke was involved in the construction of many of the area's landmark buildings, including the CE&I Train Station, his company's architectural masterpiece.

The shade on the north garden side of the house makes landscaping a challenge, but the Weatherford's have found a good combination of plantings that work well, including shade-tolerant grass, and shade-loving perennials such as bleeding hearts, ferns and honeysuckle, one of Rhea's favorites because its sweet fragrance.  Larry and Rhea have really enjoyed creating a New Orleans courtyard atmosphere in their north side garden and appreciate how the character of the old trees in their landscape, and the flowers and plants that they have selected create a total overall look that is reminiscent of the Old South, with a Midwestern twist.
