Home of:
Nancy and Bob Boesdofer
1112 Sheridan Street
Garden: Dave's Flower Garden
The Boesdorfer family has lived in the Lincoln Park historic
district for seven years. They enjoy and appreciate
the historic nature of this neighborhood, the old homes,
the brick streets and the large trees, many of which saw the
turn of the last century. The Boesdorfers were drawn
to their home at 1112 North Sheridan in large part due to
the expansive front porch and the comfortable living room
with its inviting fireplace.
Significant architectural details include amazing craftsmanship
that is reflected in the multiple lead glass windows with their
beveled treatment, the oak columns and beamed ceilings, a
built-in china cabinet and the broad staircase.
An extensive file of abstracts and title transfers has been
maintained on this property. John Murphy purchased the
surrounding 80 acres from the United States of America in
1829. The names Bandy and McCormick were associated with
the property until Frank Dunlap purchased Lot 91 in 1906 for $950,
with the intention of building a home. That construction
took place sometime between 1906 and 1913. Over the course
of the next 90 years, the Huber, McCaughey, Spencer, Farris, Clark,
Livingston, Bean and Boesdorfer families have enjoyed this spacious
beauty with its oak-laden interior.
